Two Polls: Americans don't like the Dem Congress.
Approval ratings are fine things. They've made Bush a lame duck and have proven the mandate of Congressional Dems to take away Bush's free reign and work to end the war. The American people have responded to the Democrats in a huge way, making this the first Congress of, by, and for the people since the early '90s. They did what they said that they would do during the "First Hundred Days," however they calculate that span, and the American people have responded, Riding a wave of popular support, Nancy, Okinawa Jack, and Harry have been splendid figures engaging in cult heroics! But there are two polls, and Congress is less popular than "Bush."Read More⦠You remember AP last week: Congress and the President, same approval rating: 35%.I don't see a mandate, even the tiniest of public directives to move forward with their maddening defeatism. Now, we have Gallup's latest poll:According to the May 10-13, 2007, Gallup Poll, 29% of Americans approve and 64% disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job. Congressional approval is down 4 percentage points since last month, and is 3 points lower than the 32% average measured during the first five months of the year.Gallup says the President's approval is at 33% and the Pelosi-Murtha-Reid Congress is at 29%.Is "schmandate" a word? Not technically, but mandate schmandate, Nancy. Congress is not enacting the will of the American people. Of course the media allows them to claim a mandate where there is none, but it's hard to differ when two entities are joined at the hip.The Demsare not ethical, and they have no mandate.Congressional Democrats are dancing on their own political graves. In an ideal world, the House Republican leadership would create a Republican structure to which we could point and say: "That's how it is done, folks. These people are doing what it will take to regain their majority." The problems so far have been few are and could be easily corrected. (We are trying to help.)Godspeed to the GOP leadership in cleaning it up and keeping it that way.(On the popularity problems of the Dem Congress, AllahPundit has neat graphs.)
